Springtime in the back garden |
It's Springtime on the Isle of Wight, the daffodils are in full swing, and we have just had the highest & lowest tides for 100 years. Preparations are already under way for the season ( limited until now because of the cold weather), -some varnishing has been completed in the workshop, and some mahogany plywood cut. The boat has been in the Yard for bottom-scrubbing, antifouling, and underwater gear checks. The engines have been serviced, and now we are waiting for the Marina berth to be finished so that we can connect up the shore power supply.

Fitting the forward section |
Yesterday, on the boat, I removed the mahogany grab-rails and name-plates, sanded down the superstructure. Varnishing the rails is a slow job, since it seems to need 2 days between coats.
The weather forecast for this week is good, high pressure, no wind, and 11degrees, so it's off to the harbour Hi Ho!
