A Quiet Friday in August

In the Dock

Friday August 9 was a slow day . Apart from some early morning showers, it was sunny and hot and it was spent mostly on the boat, with a short expedition to Maplins for a £2 fuseholder while Gill did a bit of spring-cleaning aboard.

We set off shortly after 5pm to take the 20-stop District Line tube ride to Chiswick Park, where we had a Travelzoo offer voucher for dinner at “Le Vacherin”. A 5-minute walk from the station, with drinks in a very nice pub garden next door set us up for a really good meal in first-class surroundings—we will go back there, most probably on the no 94 bus from Piccadilly.

Later, the tube took us home, where we finished off the day with a bit of "West Wing".
