"The One Day Heatwave" - August 1

It certainly was hot on Thursday, the first of August

Where did July go? There was hardly a breeze, so it was the perfect morning for sunbathing, airing the bedding and chatting to the neighbours, plus popping over to Waitrose for extra ice and other essential supplies.

Lee and Faye with the Chef
This was, according to the papers, a “one-day heat wave” but only for the South-East, and we were happy again to laze about on the boat. At the beginning of our London stay, we had been like kids in a sweetshop, rushing around doing at least two adventures each day.

Now, moving into August, we were finding that each adventure was needing two days to recover!
A happy evening over
Thursday’s main event was a special visit from family-friend Lee and his lovely fiancée Faye, who had just recently become engaged, so Gill knocked up a congratulatory dinner which we took in the wheelhouse. (It was still so hot that we all needed frequent sprays from a water-mister)
Faye and Lee had to depart for a Cinderella-type taxi at 10pm, (via the Central pool where “Gloriana” is still on display) but we stayed on chatting in the perfect balmy cockpit until midnight. We have decided to extend our stay here in St K for at least another two weeks, and already the calendar is filling up!
