Saturday 13 August A day at the beach

Pleasure beach from the sea

Especially so soon after seeing Ijmuiden in its worst light, we found Scheveningen to be a little piece of Paradise.
Head over heels

From our very first landward sighting of its fabulous pier and pleasure beach, through to its picturesque harbour, we felt well on holiday right away. Beaches stretch for miles on either side of the town.
What style (the buildings!)

Down on the boardwalk
To the south, there are open sands, and to the North is a pleasure beach which makes Blackpool look like a kiddies’sandpit. The Victorian buildings look as though they have been built only recently, and the acres of luxury dining facilities and boardwalks right in the fine, golden sands could give lessons to Brighton.

Cleanliness and style are superb. There is something for everyone: Fancy a bungy jump?  Maybe a trampoline, instead?  Barbecue on the beach?  Beach volley? Private party?  A cushioned settee before a gas brazier?
Or perhaps a 3-course dinner on the sands?  Certainly, sir!

Sundown in Haven no 2
It’s all there, and a great day out, with a nice bike ride thrown in—grand.
