Tuesday 2 August for a while, Back to the City .(cont'd)

Wednesday 3 August. The weather collapsed again, as if a tap had been turned on to drain all the blue from the sky. It rained most of the day, allowing us to catch up well with Hayley, and to enjoy a sociable interlude underneath the awning at the clubhouse with the harbourmaster team and their friends. We learned that the annual charge for a 10-metre boat is Euro 250 (we pay more in a month!), and there is a 5-year waiting list (no wonder!), also you would need to live in Amsterdam.

Genghis Coot delivers Gill's burthday card

Thursday August 4 was Gill’s birthday. Over breakfast, Hayley delivered some presents and cards she had brought, and of course there were phone calls, texts, and emails from lots of family and friends to mark the occasion. The weather was very suitable for birthday sunbathing until lunchtime (with fizz), and shortly afterwards it was time to celebrate further in the city.
